Good day!
Wow! What an incredible detail description of how to maintain our flues.

Please advise from a maintenance perspective, the easiest design for our freestanding fireplace’s new flue pipe coming through a Nutec house wall straight up beyond the roof line?

Thanks in advance

I appreciate you mentioning that the typical cleaning fee for free-standing woodstoves is between $100 and $200. How much it could cost my daughter to hire someone to clean her woodstove has been a question on her mind. I'll be sure to let her know about this so she can determine how to make it work with her spending plan.

I usually clean my own chimneys but while burning wood most of my life I hired a self-proclaimed expert several years ago to clean my system. His company had a nice ad in the Yellow Pages. He spent a couple of hours and left giving me no advice.

A few days later I noticed the stove smoking when the door was opened. After further investigation, I found the stove pipe was full of soot, He had not even touched it. My house could have burned down. I should have reported him but I didn't. I hope no one has lost their home.

Thank you for explaining how chimney sweeps usually cost about $100-$200 to clean free-standing woodstoves. My daughter has been wondering how much it might cost her to hire someone to clean her woodstove. I'll be sure to share this with her so she can figure out how to fit it in her budget.

This was really educational. The house I moved into has a fireplace. I can't wait to use it. I'll make sure to look out for excessive soot and creosote deposits since that's a sign it's time for the chimney to be cleaned.
